Ethan and Jane are ONE!!

February 28, 2012 marked 1 year since these littles came in to the world:

Only slightly bigger than a Huggies wipes case

So tiny in their car seats.

It's hard to believe that my little 5lb 10oz Ethan and 6lb 4oz Jane are so big and a year old already!

My parents were in town and we had a little party for the babies at a park close by.  It was fun to be in the nice sunny weather, eat yummy food, and watch the babies have their first cupcakes:

The Birthday Babies (Can I call them babies still please?)

With Grandma and Grandpa Layton

Ethan and Jane with Chloe (Ethan's future wife, Jane's future sister in law)

Ethan and Jane with my mom

So Ethan dug it, big time.  What about Jane?

She loved it too!

He was not happy when it was gone.

After their cupcake fun, we took them over to the playground to try out the swings for the first time:

Happy birthday to my amazing, sweet, adorable, feisty little babies.  I will never forget the moment we found out that I was pregnant with twins.  The lady was doing the ultrasound and she just said, "Yep, it's twins."  We were like, "Come again?"

It took 4 weeks until I came to terms with the idea and believe me, there were a lot of tears and prayers in those 4 weeks.  Don't get me wrong, after several years of trying to have a baby, I was feeling super blessed that we were even able to get pregnant, let alone that we would get 2 babies!  But I was a little overwhelmed.  How was I ever going to leave the house again?  How was I going to care for 2 needy babies by myself if/when I ever let Dave leave the house and go back to work?

One day while I was sitting in church, I got the specific feeling that it was out of my hands, these two beautiful babies were always meant to come together.  They needed each other to get through this life.  And that knowledge helped me get through the rest of the pregnancy (and I still reflect on that moment...a lot).  Jane and Ethan need each other.  And we need them.

We are so blessed that they are in our family forever.

Happy birthday Jane and Ethan!
